A lot of games feature a superhero-style leading character that seeks to save the world from evil. In this app, the hero is a spider and the villains are a hoard of fireflies unleashed upon the world when a meteor crashed.
How does a spider catch fireflies? With a web, of course! Help your spider to spin successful and strategic webs designed to catch as many of the delicious fireflies as possible!
As you spin and design the webs that will catch the fireflies, watch out for enemies that want to derail you from that goal. If you are having trouble, tutorial and demo modes will help get you started –I found these very helpful.
Children especially will enjoy that you can customize the look of your spider by changing his color and those that are competitive like I am will like that there are all manner of achievements to unlock. Also available is the ability to connect with Facebook if you want to share your progress with your friends!
What I liked: There is no single way to build a web to complete each level, which means that even younger children can have fun building webs and playing the game without having to conform to specifics –which is reinforced by the game’s three skill levels you can choose from as you begin.
What I didn’t like: The graphics in this app are cute but could stand to be a little higher resolution. Even though it is a full-screen app on the iPad, at times certain screens or menus are a little bit fuzzy.
To buy or not to buy: This is a good way for your kids to play with bugs and not gross you out!
